| The Blake
Street Hebrew Congregation is a Modern Orthodox, Zionist kehilla
in the south east suburbs of Melbourne.
The
first service was held on Shabbat Yitro, 10th February, 1996
(20th Shevat
5756). In 1997, the congregation
moved to rented
premises at 936 Glenhuntly Road, South Caulfield. In
November 2005 we moved to our own home at 868 Glenhuntly Rd. Blake Street
offers a friendly environment in which you can explore your Jewish
identity. Over the years, it has developed several unique
features, such as tailored Bar and Bat Mitzvah
ceremonies,
that take into account the wishes of the families.
The Kehilla has also led in the development of proactive policies
on issues such as Aguna (chained women). We offer services
on Shabbat, a morning minyan each weekday, and services on all
chagim. Please feel free to come and join us.
If you are
looking for a place to hold your simcha, please have a look
at our hall - Ulam
Gilat Daniel.
